This 3,200 sq ft residence is a playful, contemporary design interpretation of Aspen’s strong Victorian architectural traditions. Window geometries and volumetric proportions are direct responses to the homes neighboring the project site. The predominant exterior material palette references Aspen’s mining culture, consisting of smooth and rough sawn Douglas fir planking with rusted panel and corrugated metal accents. Corner windows throughout the project are used to maximize view planes and the amount of natural light entering into the main circulation and living spaces. Construction of the budget-minded residence was completed in October of 2005.
