314 West Main Project Team Location Designed by Derek Skalko and Gavin Merlino, this sub-grade expansion takes the livable square footage of the existing carriage house situated at 314 West Main and essentially triples the end result without adding any additional mass and new square footage above grade. As the carriage home is part of a residence on the US National Historic Registry, it was critical for us to make certain the existing visual connection and facade integrity that currently exists between 314 and West Main Street remained as unobstructed and historically compatible as possible. In our design explorations, we ultimately determined by lowering the “front lawn” to create a walk out sub-grade patio condition at 314, this actually helps to create for the property a true indoor / outdoor experience while additionally providing the residence with spectacular views to Aspen and Shadow Mountains the home does not currently experience. All due to taking advantage of the very unique topographic realities specific to the property. 314 West Main is anticipated for commencement during the summer of 2020.
