The Voorhees Residence is a proud example of an architectural solution for a young Colorado family who had a genuinely restrictive budget, and through a combination of shared responsibility and honest conversations from start to finish between the clients and the 1 Friday Design team, we were not only able to meet the project’s desires, we exceeded them in almost every category.  

Focusing the project on a modern farmhouse aesthetic, the formal explorations and detailing was kept purposeful and minimal with the client’s budget always in mind. The process was a strong collaboration to ensure while the budget was a factor, the architectural delight of the spaces the home created were always held in priority. The resulting home complex, with its main residence and dedicated workshop / studio amenity, harkens back to the ranching and farming “roots” of Colorado’s Old Snowmass region. The project was completed in the summer of 2018 and will be featured in the forthcoming hardcopy book, “Small Budgets, Big Ideas,” scheduled for release in 2020.
